How American Vampire can save the vampire Genre

It’s true that Vampires of today aren’t like what they use to be. However, these are my reasons how a American Vampire movie or TV adaption can bring the back the BITE for Vampires in the Media.

  The Vampire Lore

The American Vampire DC Comic Vertigo comic book series  written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Rafael Albuquerque isn’t just a story about vampires but also shows us the different types of vampires living in the shadows throughout our American history. What I love most about American Vampire it explores the evolution of vampires in the early 19th and 20th century. Skinner Sweet and Pearl Jones are looked upon as the new species or a new generation of vampires in the early 1920s. Skinner Sweet and Pear Jones are the kinds of vampires that were bitten by elder vampires which caused them to enhances there lifespan without worrying about aging and easily being killed. Skinner Sweet and Pear Jones are describe as being stronger, faster, harder or impossible to be burned by the sunlight compared to there elder vampires  that came before them. American Vampire also explores  the first existence of the “day walker.” Felicia Book is one of those day walkers who is half human and half vampire. Felicia is also in a member of the vampire hunting organization the Vessel of the Morning Star or “VMS” for short. It’s one of the oldest vampire hunting organization leaded by Linden Hobbes, however, they will recruit vampires if they are loyal to the cause. American Vampire also dabbles into mythological vampires such as the existence of Carpathian vampires and the most famous vampire Dracula who is viewed as ancient vampire overseer in American Vampire: Lord of Nightmares.

Terrifying

The types of Vampires in this comic book series aren’t the type of vampires that you want to dream of hooking up on a date with. When the vampires transformer there bodies to prepare themselves for battle there body features such as there mouths, vertebrae, teeth become gruesomely elongated. There hands become wide and there figures become elongated sharp claws. The vampire transformers absolutely nightmarish and shows the true essence of what a vampire should be and should look like. Now I’m not  saying how every vampire should like because of my preference. I know there are many different interpretations of how a vampire may look like or act depending on the writer. But I’m most favorable of the vampires that would piss your pants the moment you encounter one of them at night. We desperately need the classic horror aspect and the true essence of vampires that can scared living days out of us perceived in today’s  media instead of constantly seeing them as neck kissing teen heartthrobs.

Period Pieces

I love period pieces that relates to stories of  World War II, the Red Scare, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Civil Rights era, The Cold War and among many other periods of American History and World History. American Vampire explores old and new breeds of vampires going through the changing times of our American history for there better or worse. With the amount of the popular custom drama shows like Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, the Americans and Game of Thrones I see no problem for a American Vampire being another fan favorite TV adaption. What also makes American Vampire so different compare to other episodic period pieces, American Vampire explores not just one era but various other eras of American history that begins in the early of 1920s to the early and mid 1960s. If your a history buff and also a sucker of vampires than you should most diffidently suck your teeth into a possible American Vampire movie or TV series adaptation.

The drama aspect of American Vampire

If you read any American Vampire comic book issue or graphic novel than you know American Vampire Skinner Sweet basically stills the show each appearance he’s in.  Skinner Sweet is ruthless, cock eye and truly embraces of being a born and bread American Vampire. Pearl Jones  a armature 1920s era Hollywood actress turn vampire is the opposite of Skinner Sweet. Pearl Jones dreads of being a vampire and saddens that she can never grow old with her husband Henry Peterson. Pearl Jones is ashamed of her vampire transformation but later on develops into a blood thirsty vampire that can take out any vampire that would dare stand in her away. Skinner Sweet sometimes try to bring out the “bad girl” side of Pearl Jones even if he has to bite her neck wide open if he has to do so.

Conclusion

So these are all my reason how I think a possible American Vampire TV series or movie adaptation might bring a refreshing take on the milked out vampire genre.
